Data center operator Telx announced has announced new details about its upcoming flagship 215,000-square-foot, three-story data center at 2 Peekay Drive in Clifton, New Jersey, which is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2012.

First announced in December, the Peekay Drive site was previously the home of chemical company Abrachem Group. The flagship data center will be Telx’s third data center in Clifton, which also includes its 3000 Boulevard East Weehawken and 100 Delawanna Avenue locations.

Like many of its other facilities, the design of the flagship data center will be in accordance with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design requirements.

The infrastructure will feature “pods” of varying power density to meet customer needs, while more than 100,000 square feet of Telx’s new C3 Cloud Connection Center will provide customers with customizable colocation.

The data center will also include sufficient space, an abundance of power, HVAC protection, redundancy, data backup, data recovery, onsite generators, 200 watts for cooling per square foot across data center floors, a reinforced roof and round-the-clock security. Telx said the data center is expected to create more than 20 jobs in Clifton, in addition to many contracting jobs.

The flagship facility buils on Telx’s already existing 50,000 square foot facility on Delawanna Avenue that features private server cages and cabinets, connecting more than 400 carriers, business exchanges and enterprises via a single connection.

“The newest addition to our C3 portfolio will share all of the dense carrier connectivity at 100 Delawanna [Ave.], as well as direct interconnection to Telx’s other popular New York facilities at 111 Eighth [Ave.] and 60 Hudson [St.], significantly increasing the value of Telx colocation for our customers,” said Telx CEO Eric Shepcaro. “In addition, customers will be able to connect to the Telx CBX Online Marketplace to discover and purchase other services including transport, managed services and unified communication from an unprecedented number of choices.”

The property is being constructed by Mountain Development Corporation, the same company that developed its 100 Delawanna Ave. facility last year.

Telx has four data centers in the tri-state area, two in Chicago, two in Dallas, three in California and facilities in Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix and Charlotte.
